AD DJ: The Making Of A Music Icon

Samuel Opoku Adom, known professionally as AD DJ, began his journey behind the decks as a university student. His first major breakthrough came after winning the inaugural YFM Campus DJ competition, a victory that landed him a coveted spot at Ghana’s leading youth radio station, YFM.
From those early days on campus, AD DJ has steadily carved a name for himself across clubs and airwaves, driven by passion and community support.
Over the past decade, AD DJ has become a constant in Accra’s music scene. He’s spun tracks at top venues like Front/Back in Osu and other exclusive spots throughout the city.
Mastering the art of blending Afrobeat, house, hip-hop, and reggae has earned him award recognition and a growing reputation beyond Ghana’s borders.
In June 2025, AD DJ achieved a career milestone: making history as the first Ghanaian DJ to land an official residency with the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Over the season, he brought electric sets to arenas and fan zones, spinning Afrobeat and Amapiano across Morocco, Senegal, Rwanda, and South Africa
His role was a celebration of African culture on one of the continent’s most high-profile stages. AD DJ marked his decade in the industry with a series of celebrations in Accra, starting with a press soiree and culminating in performances at Kruna and Club 11.0.
His career, which began in 2014 at YFM, has since expanded into music production and event curation, with the release of his debut single “Come Inside” featuring Djay, and the popular mix show series “Club Crates Mixshow”.
Whether on the radio, at clubs, or on international stages, AD DJ’s true strength lies in his ability to connect people through sound. With recognition from Apple Music, GQ South Africa, and other major platforms, his reach now extends from Accra to Berlin, Dubai, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and across the continent.
Following a standout season with the BAL, AD DJ continues to grow as a performer and cultural tastemaker. He’s planning new mixes, events, and collaborations that reflect his vision for African music on the global stage.
Today, AD DJ stands as more than just a club or radio DJ, he is a creative curator, a connector of people, and a symbol of Ghana’s growing influence on the global stage.
Rooted in Accra, respected across continents, and driven by purpose, AD DJ is shaping the rhythm of a rising Africa. Keep your eyes and ears on him.
The next decade is his, and it’s only getting louder.
