Product Trial Is Only The Beginning: How Malta Guinness Turned Taste Into Experience At Foodaholic Festival

A product sample can get someone to take a sip, but what makes them stay and, more importantly, buy? At the Foodaholic Festival 2025, EchoHouse Nigeria helped Malta Guinness demonstrate that the strongest sampling experiences do more than just introduce a product, they create a vibrant environment where a simple trial becomes the beginning of a memorable consumer journey.

Client & Challenge On December 13, with an estimated 3,000 attendees gathered to celebrate food and entertainment, Malta Guinness needed to establish a relevant presence. The core challenge was moving beyond basic product visibility to drive immediate sales, sample seven product cases through mocktails, and build positive brand associations in an environment already crowded with competing distractions.

Audience Insight At a festival, consumers are not looking for advertising; they are looking for things to do. People engage with brands for much longer when there is direct, immediate value for them, whether that is an interactive game, a highly shareable photo, or an interesting drink.

Strategy & Creative Idea The strategy designed by EchoHouse Nigeria transformed product trial into a highly social experience. At the centre was a freshly prepared mocktail offering, which allowed brand ambassadors to educate consumers while naturally encouraging purchase intent. Rather than forcing attendees to choose between the festival's entertainment and the brand, the activation made the brand part of the fun by surrounding the sampling bar with games and digital content creation.

Channels & Execution EchoHouse Nigeria integrated several experiential touchpoints to eliminate friction and maximise dwell time.

Immersive Experience Area: A central hub featuring a 360-degree camera booth, interactive games with branded rewards, and active stage competitions (including eating, dancing, and mocktail creation).

Commerce & Trial: Curated mocktail sampling paired with two highly accessible mobile sales bars—managed by trained ambassadors—to ensure cold drinks were available without significant queues.

Visual Amplification: Comprehensive perimeter branding, flags, and ambassador outfits that reinforced the brand's premium energy throughout the festival footprint.

Measurable Outcomes & Learnings

Commercial Success: Malta Guinness successfully hit its sampling target of seven cases and sold an additional 46 cases, generating ₦552,000 in recorded sales value.

Engagement: The vibrant 360 booth and curated mocktail setup consistently drew high traffic and significantly extended consumer dwell time.

EchoHouse Nigeria Capabilities Involved The campaign highlighted the agency's strong capabilities in Experiential Marketing Strategy, Mocktail Experience Design, Product Sampling & Sales Activation, Consumer Engagement, Event Branding, and On-Ground Operations.

Product trial is vital, but trial without a surrounding experience is easily forgotten. By offering a mocktail to introduce the product, games to encourage lingering, a 360 booth for memorable interactions, and mobile bars for convenient purchasing, EchoHouse Nigeria and Malta Guinness proved that getting someone to try a drink is merely the first step in giving them a reason to choose the brand again.
